Severe Space Weather a Substantive Threat to "Business as Usual" on Earth until 2017

These 2 seminal articles below in a well-known insurance publication explain why solar flares or geomagnetic storms and their Electro-Magnetic Pulse (EMP) sequelae (negative after-effects) are a substantive threat to U.S. & European companies -- and society in general -- until 2017.

So the message about the danger of Electro-Magnetic Pulse (EMP) is indeed becoming known to the common [ insurance ] man, to echo a famous U.S. Supreme Court decision -- "I don't know how to define EMP, but I know it when I see it."

Does your company have General Liability, D&O, E&O and Business Interruption insurance to protect against EMP ?

Most CEOs & CFOs don't know the answer, sadly.

And now from the horse's mouth:

"This means that from now until 2017 or so, we should be on alert for strong solar flares and large coronal-mass ejections.  Historically, the strongest storms happen during the decline of the solar cycle, so the period from 2013 through 2017 may pose the largest risk."
