If you think EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) events are coming to a continent near you within the next 10 years then...

I recently posted on various groups asking what specific steps companies have taken to prepare for major EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) events -- large-scale geomagnetic storms (solar flares) or high-altitude nuclear explosions.  The responses ranged from flippant comments saying it was futile to do anything because the nationwide electrical grid would be destroyed anyway, to sensible suggestions for corporate survival when there may be no or intermittent electrical supply nationwide for weeks or months.

Possibly years.  Plus partial breakdown of emergency services and/or social order for weeks or months.

In sum, there seems to be small appreciation in the Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery / Insurance communities for the gravity of the danger of EMP events and their high likelihood of taking place during our professional lifetimes.

For those of you with serious interest in having your companies withstand an EMP event -- and in seeing EMP events as potential corporate business opportunities -- please join our dedicated discussion group on the topic here:
